Cameras for a private house
A camera shows the gate. It does not open the door, and a stairwell belongs to the building.
Jul 9, 2026 · NextTek
Short answer: a house often needs the gate and one corner. In a stairwell the building fits the camera, not one flat.
What a camera does
It shows a recording. It does not ring when someone arrives unless a sensor is connected. The door opens with an intercom or a key. NextTek can fit both in one yard. They are not the same thing.
Where the recording stays
On a disk in the house. A cloud is only there if you want it. Before buying, we say how many days the disk holds.
Installation is on the camera page.
Short answers
Does a camera replace an alarm?
No. A camera shows what happened, but a sensor alerts you the moment a door opens. A house often needs both: sensors for the alert, a camera to see who is there.
How many days does the disk keep?
It depends on the number of cameras, the resolution and the disk. Before buying, NextTek works out the days for your set, rather than promising one number for everyone.
May the camera film the street?
If it also looks at the street or a neighbour's yard, data protection rules apply. Better point it at your own ground and use privacy masking zones.
Does the camera work without internet?
Recording to the disk carries on. Without internet you just cannot see the picture on the phone until the link returns. That is why a disk at home is safer than cloud only.
Wi‑Fi or wired camera?
A PoE cable is more stable, and power comes down the same wire. Wi‑Fi suits a spot where no cable can go, but it still needs power.
Do I need a warning sign?
If the camera films a place where other people walk, they have to be told that video surveillance is on. A visible sticker at the gate is usually enough.
