Gate automation and automatic gates

Gate automation is a motor that opens sliding or swing gates from a remote or a phone. An automatic gate is not only a motor: it needs photocells so it does not close on a car, and a stop if something is in the way. NextTek installs electric gates for houses. Sliding-gate automation and swing-gate automation are two different mechanisms. We quote after we see the gate's weight and whether it even moves by hand.

Metal garden gate and railings on a house front

The gate first, then the motor

If the gate does not move easily by hand, a motor will not fix that. It will only break sooner.

Sliding gate automation

The leaf runs along the fence. You need clear space to the side and a level track. Heavier gates need a more expensive motor.

Swing gate automation

The leaves swing in or out. You need space where the leaf stops, and hinges that are not sagging.

Opening from your phone

The remote stays in the car. The phone helps when a delivery is at the gate and you are at work. That needs internet.

Check that the gate moves by hand

If the leaf does not move by hand, do not fit a motor. Hinges and the track come first. Then the automation.

Choose swing or sliding

Swing gates need room in the yard. Sliding gates need room along the fence. NextTek says which one fits.

Connect it to the intercom

The gate remote and the intercom can be joined. A guest rings once, instead of hunting for two buttons.

What is in the kit

Automatic sliding gates and swing gates are not just a motor in a box. We do not fit them without the safety parts.

Photocells and stop

If a car or a child is between the leaves, the gate stops. That is not an extra luxury. It is part of the install.

Price range

Automatic sliding gates on a house often start around 900–2500 euro for the motor, photocells, and installation, if the gate already moves. A heavy leaf, a new gate, or a long cable to the house is extra. This is not a quote. We price after a visit.

New gates or the ones you have

We move the existing gate first. If it sticks, the track comes before the automation.

Existing electric gates

If a motor is already there but the remote is dead, we often replace the control, not the whole gate.

Still a manual gate

We look at weight, hinges, and whether the track disappears under snow. Then we choose a sliding or swing motor.

Estimate gate automation costs

The calculator shows a rough cost. We prepare an exact quote after we see the site. Ranges on this page are not a formal offer.

Frequently asked questions

What is gate automation?
A motor, a controller, and safety parts that open and close the gate without muscle. The leaf can be the one you already have.
Sliding or swing — which one?
If there is room along the fence and the track can stay clear, sliding is easier on a steep drive. If there is no side room, swing remains, if the yard has space for the leaf.
What do automatic gates cost?
If the gate is already there and moves, a motor with photocells and installation on a house is often about 900–2500 euro. A new gate and a heavy leaf are separate. We write the exact sum after a visit.
Do the gates close if the power fails?
Without backup power they stop where they are. Many motors have a key that releases the gate so you can move it by hand. We show that on handover day.
Do I have to clear the track in winter?
Yes. Snow and ice are the most common reason a sliding-gate motor whines and the gate does not move. Swing gates mind snow less, if the leaf does not drag on the ground.
Can this connect to an intercom?
Yes. A call from the gate can go to your phone, and you can open the gate in the same step. The intercom has its own page. Access as a whole is on the access control page.
Can you repair an existing gate drive?
Often, yes. First we check that the gate moves by hand, then the photocells, the remote and the motor's power. If the motor is worn out, we say whether replacing it costs less.
What is the difference between automatic and electric gates?
There is none. Both names mean a gate with an electric drive, a control unit and safety parts. What differs is whether the gate slides or swings.
